Public administration employees had the biggest raises this year

The employees of the public administration had the biggest wage raises in the first five months of 2007 – 35.6%. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the average salary of the public administration functionaries was MDL 2,267. At the same time, the monthly average salary of an employee in the economy sector was MDL 1,864, as against the respective period last year, increasing by 23% (10% in real terms). In the budgetary sector the average salary was MDL 1,486 and in the real sector of the economy MDL 2,066. In education the average salary was MDL 1,221, increasing by about 3.3% in comparison with the respective period of the previous year, and in medicine – MDL 1,473, rising by 20.1%. The lowest average salary in the first five months of the year was paid to the persons employed in agriculture, hunting economy and forestry – MDL 883 (+29.4% compared with the respective period last year), fish breeding – MDL 1,102 (+2.4%); industry – MDL 2,347 (+22.8%), mining industry – MDL 2,666 (+24.8%); processing industry – MDL 2,148 (+21.4%); food industry – MDL 2,140 (+24.4%); beverage industry – MDL 1,743 (+16.3%). The highest average salaries were traditionally paid to the employees of the financial sector – MDL 4,182 (+16.7%). In the energy sector the average pay was MDL 3,271 (+25.9%); constructions – MDL 2,681 (+33.5%); in the wholesale and the retail trade – MDL 1,816 (+38.1%); hospitality industry – MDL 1,626 (+27.5%); communications and transport – MDL 2,803 (+17.5%); real estate – MDL 2,300 (+28.8%). The average monthly wage of an employee in May was MDL 2,048, by 23% more than in May 2006. In the budgetary sector, the average salary was MDL 1,702, in the real sector – MDL 2,226.
