The Public Procurement Agency is to put into operation the second electronic module that allows performing public acquisitions over the Internet, the institution's head Stefan Creanga said in a roundtable meeting, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Stefan Creanga said the new system is designed to reduce corruption by eliminating the human factor in procurement, and to facilitate access to tender contests by avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy and spending time on the road. The first module automates the procurement process and cannot function without the second and vice versa. “The elimination of the human factor will help prevent corruption as the people always aim to make profit,” Stefan Creanga said. The new procurement system will become operational by the end of 2011, as stipulated in the strategy formulated by the Government.
