The president of honor of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the Party of Socialists (PSRM) will form an alliance with the Democratic Party (PDM) or the Bloc ACUM if particular key points of its party program that is pro-Russia are accepted. The politician developed the issue in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.

“A second election campaign is now taking place. The party leaders who know they will not form an alliance with each other keep their voters,” stated Mihai Ghimpu. The Liberal heavyweight noted the PDM and the PSRM could form a coalition if this is accepted by Moscow. If the coalition is formed, the leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grecheanyi will be elected Parliament Speaker and the post of Premier will be thus “freed” for the PDM.

Asked how the power held by the PDM at present can be reduced, Mihai Ghimpu said this can be done by an alliance between at least one of the parties that won more seats of MP and the Democratic Party. This way the power will be divided. A coalition between the PSRM, the PDM and ACUM could also be formed and this would diminish thrice the PDM’s power.

According to Mihai Ghimpu, the PDM wants snap elections. The date of the parliamentary elections was set for February 24 not accidentally. They did so in order to be able to organize eventual snap elections simultaneously with the local ones. “If snap elections are held, the PDM will attract votes from the Bloc ACUM and from the PSRM,” he stated.
