The Party of Socialists (PSRM) welcomes the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council’s decision to offer Moldova the status of observer at the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The decision was adopted by a unanimous vote by the Presidents of the EEU partner states in a meeting on May 14. This involved President Igor Dodon, IPN reports.

In a press release, the party said it pleaded and continues to plead for Moldova’s integration into the EEU. The closer cooperation between Moldova and this Union is supported by most of the Moldovan citizens and is an objective of national interest. “The most important markets for selling Moldovan products are in the EEU member states. Namely from the EEU member states we receive the energy resources needed by the country’s economy,” said the PSRM.

The integration into the EEU will enable Moldova to closer cooperate with the member states of the Union in trade, agriculture, industry, information technology, digital economy and other sectors of the economy. “We support the decision to offer the status of observer at the EEU to Moldova as a first step towards obtaining the status of fully-fledged member of this organization,” noted the party.

The PSRM is yet for maintaining the cooperation with the European Union. The Republic of Moldova should build mutually advantageous relations both with the West and with the East. Only a balanced foreign policy can ensure the stable development of Moldova and the keeping of its statehood.
