The members of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) want to know who is there behind the criminal case started against the party in 2016 and the context in which this case was handled and used. The Socialists also want to know who is behind the reopening of this case last November. The PSRM announced that it will make the necessary approaches to the law enforcement agencies, IPN reports.

“In 2016, the former oligarchic government of Vladimir Plahotniuc made an absolutely illegal and anti-constitutional order, instructing the Prosecutor General’s Office to take legal action against the Party of Socialists, based on invented facts. We remind that the Party of Socialist in that period protested in front of governmental institutions, in front of Parliament. At that moment, the Prosecutor General’s Office was ordered to start a criminal case and prosecute President Igor Dodon and our mates from the PSRM,” stated the party’s executive secretary Vlad Batrîncea.

According to him, whenever the former regime didn’t like something in relation to the PSRM, it took out that case from the drawers. The case was reopened in November 2019 by those that earlier dropped it due to lack of evidence. “We have all the reasons to believe that its reopening is only the continuation of blackmail against the PSRM,” said the Socialist MP.

Vlad Batrîncea said the PSRM will make official approaches to the law enforcement agencies and will even file a lawsuit and will demand to examine the way in which the criminal case was started and the context in which it was handled and used, including the political context, and to also investigate the reopening of the case last November. Several days ago, the prosecutor general himself confirmed that there are a number of questions as to the way in which this case was started and dealt with.
