Taking note of the critical situation towards which Moldova is pushed, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) proposes another candidate for Prime Minister. This is Mariana Durleşteanu, Moldova’s ex-ambassador in London and former minister of finance – the candidate announced by the party’s leader Igor Dodon, IPN reports.

According to the PSRM, Mariana Durleşteanu is able to manage a transitional government until the snap parliamentary elections. The PSRM signed for the new candidate and calls on the other MPs to join in. The Socialists also announced that they intend to initiate the formation of a parliamentary majority that will work only during the period of the transition mandate.

Igor Dodon noted the proposals are constitutional and the President’s refusal to accept them will represent a violation of the Constitution. “The President cannot ignore the will of the parliamentary majority in a parliamentary republic,” stated the leader of the PSRM.

“We think the solution we proposed can help overcome this political chaos. On the one hand, we will have a functional government. On the other hand, we will have snap elections organized in an atmosphere of calmness and institutional stability,” stated Igor Dodon, who said that he wants snap elections to take place in June. “Let’s vote in a transitional government that would serve until the snap elections! This would be not the government of the PSRM, the PAS or other parties, but of the people, consisting of professionals who would help us overcome this difficult period due to the pandemic.”
