PSRM sets priority for next year

The priority of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) for 2020 is to get ready for the presidential elections. In a statement issued after the meeting of the party’s National Council, it is said that the PSRM continues to plead for direct parliamentary elections and firmly rejects any speculation about the possible election of the President by Parliament, IPN reports.

The party expresses its full confidence in President Igor Dodon and considers he is the most suitable candidate for President at the 2020 elections.

The statement says the PSRM achieved impressive results in the parliamentary and local general elections. “For the first time in 2019, a candidate of a center-left party scored a decisive victory in the mayoral elections in Chisinau. The PSRM candidates won victories in 17 towns, including in seven district centers, and in 190 villages. The party’s representatives manage 21 districts in the Republic of Moldova.”

The National Council of the PSRM reiterated its commitment to respect the basic principles, such as the independence and neutrality of the Republic of Moldova, securing of Moldovan identify and building of a multiethnic society.
