The Socialists’ commitment to raise average salaries to €600 and pensions to €300 that were specified in a resolution adopted in the November 18 protest is achievable, Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc stated in a news conference held to present the objectives that will form the basis of the socioeconomic development program for the next four years and the basis of the political program with which the Party of Socialists (PSRM) will run in the parliamentary elections of next February, IPN reports.

According to Vladimir Golovatiuc, the rise in salaries in the private sector will be possible as a result of the promoted fiscal impetuses, the unblocking of the relations with Russia and the elimination of customs duties. This will generate higher exports and revenues among companies. To increase the salaries of budget-funded employees, the costs will be optimized and a balance will be found between social spending and foreign investments.

Ion Ceban, head of the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council, said they aim to change the functioning of the National Health Insurance Company. Any person, either they have a health policy or not, should benefit from free medical assistance. They also aim to eliminate the informal payments in hospitals. The teachers and doctors should have a special status that would offer them social guarantees, starting from a competitive salary and continuing with free transport, concessions on the renting or purchase of a home, etc. The Socialists will ensure balanced foreign policy by developing the relations with the European Union and also with the Eurasian Economic Union.

Speaking about the territorial-administrative reform, Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said the Socialists will not allow transforming the districts into counties. The elimination of mayor’s offices and districts will distance the social services from the citizens.

As to military neutrality, Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea noted no international military body should have a presence on Moldova’s territory. The Party of Socialists is the only party that works to reunify both of the banks of the Nistru as this would generate economic growth, political stability, a modern and contemporary state.

The representatives of the PSRM also said they plead for a presidential republic where the President will name the Premier, prosecutor general, chiefs of the Security and Intelligence Service and state guard service and will be the supreme commander of the armed forces responsible for the foreign policy and the signatory of international treaties.

The protection of the traditional family as the main nucleus of society by promoting the maternal capital and other social concessions is another commitment undertaken by the PSRM. The objectives presented by the Socialists will be debated in localities during the next few days so as to supplement them.

As regards the events staged by the PSRM in the recent past, including the November 18 protest, the president of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Grecheanyi said the internal elections to choose candidates in single-member constituencies  held as part of the given activities were approved by the party’s National Council.
