By canceling the results of the selection contest for the position of General Prosecutor, the Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate, has shaken the entire justice system. On the other hand, this contest was vitiated from the very beginning because it was organized outside the provisions of the Constitution. Additionally, the cancellation of the contest generated a reaction that shows that conducting the contest was a mistake in itself. These opinions were expressed by PSRM, PDM and ACUM bloc MPs at TVR Moldova.

Vasile Bolea, Socialist Party MP, said that, by canceling the results of the selection contest for the position of General Prosecutor, the Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate, has shaken the entire Moldovan justice system. "All that the minister has done, in my opinion, is to maintain the interim general prosecutor, the godson of the comadre of the leader who appointed her to the post. I am referring to the Minister of the Interior, Andrei Năstase", said the politician.

The Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu said that the selection procedure of candidates for the position of General Prosecutor was wrong from the outset. In his opinion, the creation of the pre-selection commission under the Ministry of Justice is unconstitutional, while the contest had to be held by the Superior Council of Prosecutors, as provided by the Constitution. "This preselection by the executive is illegal and unconstitutional. From the beginning, the process was vitiated", said Sergiu Sîrbu. The MP acknowledged that there are problems in the justice system and said that these issues appeared after the change of power occurred.

Vladimir Bolea, PAS MP, ACUM bloc, said that society's reaction shows that the very organization of the contest for the position of General Prosecutor was a mistake. "I think we are talking about an act of will on behalf of the minister of justice, because only those who work commit mistakes. They have the right to error because justice itself is an act done in the interest of the state and of the people. For this reason, if a mistakes has been made, it is better to acknowledge it. I think it is an act of courage", Vladimir Bolea said.

On Wednesday, November 6, the Minister of Justice, Olesea Stamate, announced that she will issue an order canceling the results of the contest for the position of Prosecutor General on the grounds that the members of the pre-selection commission have received additional information regarding some candidates. Subsequently, Prime Minister Maia Sandu announced that the Government is taking responsibility to amend the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, which will be discussed in Parliament.
