The Party of Socialists (PSRM) has initiated a no-confidence motion, accusing the Government of the continuous crisis in the energy sector and the incapacity to take effective measures to protect the country's citizens and economy, IPN reports.

The PSRM accuses the Recean Government of "a disastrous policy that led to a new increase in charges for energy resources". These decisions, according to the Socialists, have caused inflation to rise, socioeconomic instability to worsen and will lead to further increases in the prices of goods and services.  The PSRM has prepared all the necessary documents and initiated the procedure for dismissing the Government.

For his part, in a TV show, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the executive is doing everything possible to protect the interests of citizens. "We have done what is necessary to ensure that we do everything possible to defend the interests of our citizens in the Republic of Moldova, including those on the right bank of the Nistru. Now the situation is such that Gazprom tried to make these supplies conditional on the payment of a non-existent debt and we are not going to pay that debt. And there is another very important thing for our citizens on the left bank of the Nistru – Chisinau takes care of them, and Moscow works against them," stated Dorin Recean.

This is not the first no-confidence motion of the PSRM targeting the Recean Government. One motion was initiated in July 2023 and another one in October 2023. Under the law, in order to be examined in the plenary session of Parliament, the draft law should be signed by at least 26 MPs, and 51 votes in Parliament are needed for the Government to be dismissed.
