The Party of Socialists (PSRM) issued a public statement saying the criminal case started against one of the activists of the Political Party “Our Party” represents persecution, IPN reports.
“The Party of Socialists expresses its firm conviction that the persecution of people for their political beliefs is absolutely unacceptable in a civilized society built on the rule of law principles. Regrettably, the phenomenon of ‘political detainees’ developed in Moldova during the last seven years and the Socialists repeatedly condemned it at national and international levels,” reads the statement.
The Socialists also say they will continue to use all the instruments they possess to prevent the jailing of Moldovans for their political convictions or made statements. The PSRM calls on all the human rights organizations to become involved and monitor the detention of the “Our Party” activist and all the cases with a political undertone.
