The Party of Socialists (PSRM) criticizes the new History of Romanians and Universal History textbook for the twelfth grade. At a news conference, MP Alla Darovannaya said that this textbook does not reflect the historical realities and only promotes the party propaganda of the current government, IPN reports
“Its content is tendentious and contains serious omissions. Education must be based on the truth, not on the distortion of reality," said the parliamentarian.
"Children don't go to school to study the biography of politicians. They don't go to school to discuss which of the politicians is better or which is worse," said Nikita Romenski, of the socialist youth organization "Young Guard".
Contacted by IPN for a comment, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research asked for a written inquiry. By the time the news item was published, an answer has not been provided.
Since September 2024, twelfth graders in the Republic of Moldova have studied history by the new History of Romanians and Universal History textbook.
