The Gavrilița Government took up by increasing the number of ministries and this caused a heavier burden on the national public budget. “Currently, the costs for maintaining the central administration are higher, including at the Presidential Palace that spends by 3 million more than in the previous period. The costs for maintaining the ministries, the Government’s staff rose,” Deputy Parliament Speaker Vlad Batrîncea stated in a press briefing centering on the first 100 days of the Gavrilița Government’s mandate. Representatives of the Party of Socialists presented an alternative report on the period of 100 days, focusing on the staff policy and the situation in the justice sector.
“Those from PAS promised to hold public contests, to bring professionals, to bring the diaspora home. In reality, we see that only party members and direct relatives were named to executive posts, to ministries and agencies,” stated Vlad Batrîncea.
As to the justice sector, Vlad Batrîncea said they the amendments made to the law on the prosecution service and other laws represent defiance of Moldova’s commitments undertaken before the Council of Europe and the development partners. “They promoted bills without asking for the opinion of the Venice Commission, while the development partners didn’t make any comment as they do not even know how to react. The President of the Venice Commission reacted in the best way, saying that urgency does not justify the hurry. He noted that a number of legislative amendments, including those to the law on the prosecution service, were adopted in a hurry, without asking for the opinion of the Venice Commission,” stated the MP.
He also said that the serious violations in the justice sector ended with the illegal detention and arrest of Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. “The whole society, experts, civil society, the development partners of the Republic of Moldova condemned the bandit-like methods similar to those used by Plahotniuciste that were applied towards Mister Stoianoglo. The so-called accusations made against him do not have any legal basis and are not based on facts. The peak of cynicism is that after such behavior towards the prosecutor general, Missis Maia Sandu ordered an assessment of his work. This is the justice sector reform. If they act abusively against Mister Stoianoglo, how will they behave towards the rest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova?” wondered Vlad Batrîncea.
