The Constitutional Court’s decision that the declaring of the state of emergency is unconstitutional is exclusively political. There are no legal arguments in favor of it, executive secretary of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Vlad Batrîncea said after the CC announced its decision in the evening of April 28, IPN reports.

“This decision is political, ideological in character and has nothing to do with justice and the case law of the Constitutional Court. What does the declaring of the state of emergency imply? Apparently, the Constitutional Court considers there are no more problems related to COVID-19 and the situation is already very favorable. The citizens live well and the state of emergency is not necessary,” Vlad Batrîncea stated in a press briefing.

He noted that the Socialists assumed full responsibility for the pandemic crisis, including the vaccination of citizens. “We want to ask some of the colleagues who say that they enjoy the support of the whole civilized world - what results did they achieve in attracting vaccines? What population support programs did they propose? Why is the political agenda for some of them the only thing that matters?” asked Vlad Batrîncea.

The MP said the CC became a political instrument of a party that dreams of more seats of MP in the next Parliament, while the President of the Republic of Moldova imposes her own agenda. “During the election campaign, both Maia Sandu and her MPs openly stated that if they face problems in Parliament, they will solve them through the Constitutional Court. Today the Constitutional Court practically replaced the Government and Parliament,” stated Vlad Batrîncea.

According to him, the Socialists are ready for snap elections. However, the priority for the PSRM was to stabilize the epidemiological situation first so that elections could be held later. The President’s position is cynical and irresponsible because there is no money in the budget for holding snap elections. Now that the state of emergency was annulled, Maia Sandu and her team are directly responsible for the situation in the country.
