”At our insistence, the site of the Republican Stadium was returned under state ownership,” said the Party of Socialists. On December 3, the majority of MPs voted to abrogate the law that authorized the sale of the site of the former Republican Stadium to the United States for construction of a New Embassy Compound. According to the PSRM, this place is historical and symbolical for Chisinau and for the whole country, especially for hundreds of thousands of football fans, IPN reports.

The party noted that yesterday Parliament adopted a number of laws aimed at fulfilling the promises made by the Socialists to the people. “We restored the right of the Russian-language speakers by offering a special status of language of interethnic communication to Russian, as it had been during over two decades in the history of our country. This law will help to harmonize the interethnic and intercultural relations in our multiethnic state. There were also created the conditions needed for protecting and developing the languages of ethnic minorities,” the PSRM says in a press release.

The party notes that to ease the access to medicines, their instructions will be later doubled in Russian, alongside those in the official language. Also, after many years of delay, the package of laws on ATU Gagauzia was adopted.

The PSRM regrets the aggressive and provocative behavior of the parties of the right, which provoked incidents and chaos in Parliament.

On December 3, the MPs of the Party of Socialists, the Shor Party and the For Moldova Platform passed, without the bills being presented by the authors, the draft state budget law, the draft state social insurance law and the draft law on the mandatory health insurance funds for 2021, the bill to amend and supplement the Code of Audiovisual Media Services, the bill on the functioning of languages spoken on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and the bill to amend and supplement Article 27 of the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia. They also adopted in two readings the proposal to transfer the SIS from the President’s subordination under the management of Parliament.
