The Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) have differing views about the result achieved by Andrei Nastase in the first round of the mayoral elections in Chisinau. The Socialists consider this was a surprise for the candidate, while the PPPDA believes this is the result of assiduous work, IPN reports.

In the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel, Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said the fact that Andrei Nastase reached the runoffs was a surprise for the candidate himself. Furthermore, the presence of the PPPDA candidate in the runoff vote is a problem for the Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc and for the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu who, according to him, is not very delighted with such a development.

PPPDA deputy head Alexandru Slusari said Andrei Nastase reached the runoffs owing to the hard work done by the candidate’s team during the election campaign. Furthermore, the fact that independent candidate Silvia Radu failed to reach the runoff vote together with the Socialist candidate Ion Ceban shows once again that the voters in Chisinau are well informed. The results of the first round of voting showed that the polls, which anticipated that Silvia Radu will compete in the runoffs, are conducted selectively or in someone’s favor. “The fact that the people obtained hope is the most important result of these elections,” noted Alexandru Slusari.

The runoff vote in Chisinau municipality on June 3 will involve Socialist candidate Ion Ceban and PPPDA candidate Andrei Nastase.
