PSD parliamentarians highlight priorities for fall session

The parliamentary group of the Social-Democratic Party (PSD) have three priorities for the fall session. They touch on compulsory fees to social insurance and health budgets, the situation in the educational sector and the situation in agriculture. The message was conveyed Wednesday at a news conference by the PSD leader, Dumitru Braghis, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the MP, the PSD team will insist on re-calculating and raising the pensions and salaries to the level of the minimum consumer basket. PSD has a criticizing attitude as to the system of compulsory insurance in healthcare. “Over 2 billion lei are payed for medical insurances, but the citizens remain unsatisfied with the quality and quantity of the medical services,” the PSD leader said. Dumitru Braghis has said the Social-Democratic group will focus on drafts related to the self-financing of the local public administrations. In PSD's view, they should get rid of their dependence on the state budget. The PSD team will put up proposals to improve the Educational Code, due to be approved. Dumitru Braghis says the whole educational system should changed cardinally, so that the youths have a profession on graduating from the school of the lycee in order to be able to find a job. The PSD leader says the farmers' biggest problem now is their not being able to sell their grapes. Dumitru Braghis considers Moldova should follow the examples of Italy and France, where they have created collective farms dealing with selling the output of all their members. Asked about the talks with the Democratic Party concerning a possible merger, Dumitru Braghis specifies the deadline for those talks is October 1 and that, in accordance with a preliminary agreement, he refrains from making statements. At the same time, Braghis says the PSD negotiates with other parties of Social-Democratic orientation, but did not name those. The Parliament's fall session starts on September 25.
