PSD fields Sergiu Coropceanu for mayor of Chisinau

Sergiu Coropceanu was designated Tuesday as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) for the mayoralty of Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the party. The decision was taken in the meeting of the party’s Political Bureau. Sergiu Coropceanu is the secretary general of the PSD. Three of the four parliamentary parties have made public the names of their candidates for mayor of Chisinau. MP Igor Dodon was put forward by the Communist Party, Valentina Buliga by the Democratic Party, while Victor Bodiu by the Liberal Democratic Party. Among the extraparliamentary parties, the Christian Democratic People’s Party fielded Radu Busila, while the Party of Socialists of Moldova “Patria-Rodina” - Valentin Krylov. The Republican People’s Party, the “United Moldova” Party and the “New Force” Movement will take part in this year’s local elections en bloc. They could propose the leader of the “New Force” Movement Valeriu Plesca for mayor of Chisinau. The National Liberal Party is to announce its candidate the coming days.
