PSD donates its project to reconstruct “Valea Morilor” park to Chisinau administration

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) offers its project to reconstruct “Valea Morilor” Park to the Chisinau authorities as a gift. It says a contract with the investors should be signed so that the Chisinau administration remains the owner of the land, while the investors rent the land for 50 years or more, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, the party’s secretary Sergiu Corobceanu said the PSD spent over 2 million lei to design the future recreational area, which will include a stadium, a museum of windmills, a café, a restaurant on water, an entertainment park for children and other facilities. The project will be donated to the Chisinau Municipal Council and there will be no need to spend more money on designing works, Corobceanu said after criticizing the measures taken by the City Hall to clean the lake in “Valea Morilor” Park. Sergiu Corobceanu said the mud from the lake was to be removed according to an Italian method. He also said the mayor favors a carrier that does not deserve winning the tender contest. The head of the PSD local organization in Buiucani Nicolae Racovita said the City Hall pursues other goals at “Valea Morilor” than reconstructing the park. Asked to comment on these accusations, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said all the reconstruction works are supervised by the Capital Constructions Division. “I invite all the state institutions, including the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and the Audit Office, to carry out inspections. If they identify irregularities, I will be the first to demand that the persons to blame are punished,” he said. ”They started similar projects, but abandoned them. Now they prefer only to criticize at a time when we deal with the encountered problems.” Recently, Dorin Chirtoaca said the hydrotechnical equipment will be installed near the lake after the mud removing works are completed. A tender contest will be held on July 23 to select the company that will do it. According to the municipal authorities’ plan, the Park “Valea Morilor” will be reconstructed at a cost of about 81 million lei.
