PRP claims the illegal arrest of Ghenadie Braghis is confirmation of the president Voronin’s power usurpation

The illegal actions of the force bodies towards the sales manager of the Pro TV Chisinau TV channel, Ghenadie Braghis, prove the power usurpation by President Vladimir Voronin and the regime led by him, a press release of the People’s Republican Party (PRP) states, forwarded to the Agency for broadcasting. According to the declaration, political extremism, disregarding the Constitution, democratic principles and human rights, transformation of the judiciary system and the mass-media into harassment and intimidation instruments for political opponents are common occurrences of this dictatorial system. „These are the consequences of the cowardly „pro-Voronin” vote from April 4, 2005, consequences that the Peoples Republican Party tried to warn about. Unfortunately, none of the PRP’s declarations regarding usurpation of state power were broadcasted by Pro TV Chisinau. On the contrary, this television channel was always faithful to the government, and was one of the mass-media companies controlled by the red-orange coalition from the top”, the PRP declaration states. According to the same source, the Pro TV Chisinau incident proves once more that cooperation with a regime that defies the Constitution doesn’t grant protection from this regime’s abuses. In order to change the regime, people have to know about its crimes. As one of the opposition parties, the Peoples Republican Party will continue to inform the population about the abuses of the government and calls to the press to join it in this cause. The People’s Republican Party concluded in its declaration that the local elections followed by the parliamentary elections give the society a chance that must not be neglected to change the situation.
