Experts consider the provocations on the part of the separatist Transnistrian regime will intensify in the election campaign. They called on the Moldovan authorities to show calmness and to implement the law in such cases. The issue was raised after Transnistrian leaders ordered digging channels to bloc access to Dorotskaya village on October 14, IPN reports.

In the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, former acting director of the Security and Information Service Valentin Dediu said the secessionist administration wants this way to punish the residents of Dorotskaya for not passing under its jurisdiction, but the channels could also have been dug by order of the Kremlin, which aims to block the foreign observers’ access to Transnistria. “We must not become involved in the conflict, while the people must realize that these are provocations and must take part in the elections as the further development of the country and, possibly, the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict depend on them,” he stated.

Sergiu Musteata, dean of the Faculty of History of the Chisinau Teacher Training University, thinks the digging of channels represents a new blow to the inhabitants of Dorotskaya for opposing being transferred under the administration of Tiraspol and a test of the patience of Chisinau. “They known that nobody will punish them and such a situation has lasted for over 20 years,” stated the historian.

International law expert Vitalie Gamurari considers the incident in Dorotskaya must not be solved by using arms and recommended the Prosecutor Genial’s Office to start criminal cases over it.

Journalist Valentin Buda believes that such incidents will disappear when the advancement of the European integration process. “The EU offers money to Transnistrian entrepreneurs and an increasing number of residents of Transnistria ask for biometric passports. That’s why the European course must be continued after the November 30 elections,” he said.
