Premier Vlad Filat Tuesday ordered setting up a commission that would analyze the situation of the cardboard factory “Moldcarton” and the Glodeni-based sugar factory. Even so, the employees of the two factories are not ready to give up the protests as they want guarantees that they will be paid the salaries for the last six months.
Gheorghe Rusu, head of the trade union committee of “Moldocarton”, told Info-Prim Neo that the creation of the commission was entrusted to Deputy Minister of Economy Sergiu Ciobanu. “Until the salary problem is solved, we will be protesting in front of the Government and the Parliament,” he said, adding that the company now has 286 employees, as against 900 at the start of last year. Most of the employees were made redundant.
The head of the Glodeni sugar factory's trade union Vasile Guleac said the company's employees will continue the protests together with the persons working for “Moldcarton”. “We know the Premier has a lot of problems to solve, but if they do not keep their promises the only factory in Glodeni district will go bankrupt. We do not believe things will change when the commission is created. We want that our rights be respected,” Vasile Guleac said.
The employees of the two factories demand that they be paid the overdue salaries and that working conditions be created for them. They will stage a new protest on Wednesday, February 24, starting at 10.00.
