The participants in the protest staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” haven’t yet received an answer from the senior state officials even if they asked that the Premier, the President and the Head of Perlman should have a meeting with their Intermediation and Representation Council by the end of Monday, September 7.

“Regretfully, they show that they do not represent the country’s administration. They didn’t accept the demands of those over 100,000 people who came together in the Square last Sunday. Today the Council of the Great National Assembly will have a meeting to decide what we will do further. We will probably hold a news conference in the Square and will announce that we go to those who hold the posts of President, Premier and Speaker. We will go to them ourselves,” the Platform’s spokesman Vasile Nastase stated for IPN.

If the senior government officials do not resign, the hundreds of protesting people could move to near the Parliament Building or the Presidential Office, said Vasile Nastase, voicing hope that such a development will be avoided. According to him, for free early elections to be held, the senior authorities must tender their resignation first, followed by the other functionaries, including those from the Central Election Commission.

The protest mounted by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the Great National Assembly Square on September 6 brought together about 100,000 people, according to the organizers. The participants decided to protest nonstop and put up tents in the Square.
