The ordinary October 19 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions was interrupted by several dozen posters, who were sympathizers and members of the Party of Socialists. These forced their way into the Chisinau City Hall and chanted slogans. As it was very noisy, the functionaries didn’t hear each other and had to stop the meeting, IPN reports.
The protesters demanded that the local authorities should stop destroying the city and the illegal constructions and that Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca should resign.
“It is impossible to continue in such conditions. I think acting like this in a civilized country is something improper,” deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu said before the meeting was closed.
When the meeting was over, the protest continued in front of the Chisinau City Hall, while the leader of the Socialist faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council Ion Ceban, alongside party mates, gave a news conference in the assembly hall. Ceban said the mayor and all the functionaries of the Chisinau City Hall should be held accountable for all the illegalities they committed.
