Dozens of elderly persons, young people and teens representing the Alliance for Saving Women of Moldova Thursday protested in front of the Parliament, demanding that the MPs reject the anti-discrimination bill. They said that this law will spoil society and will encourage debauchery and immorality, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Alliance's executive director Vitalie Marian said that by this peaceful meeting the people express their disagreement with the anti-discrimination bill that offers privileges to persons with nontraditional sexual orientation. “We came to say that we do not want the homosexuals to have access to education institutions as the young people must not be indoctrinated that homosexuality is something normal. The lawmakers will be penalized if they adopt this law,” said Vitalie Marian. Profira Gradinaru from Suruceni, Ialoveni, who is a member of the Alliance, said that such a law will encourage immoral behavior. “I have children and grandchildren who must have healthy families. I gave my vote for the ruling alliance and want that it protects our children from immorality,” she said. Another protester, Teodora Breahna aged 65 from Costesti, Ialoveni, said the young people are now to resist many temptations. “We are against this law. If Parliament passes it, we will stage wide protests as there are more people than MPs,” she said. Vladimir Voronin, the leader of the Communist Party (PCRM), who was met by the protesters before the start of the legislature's sitting, said that he does not support this law. “I'm for family. This law violates all the canons of Christianity and the mankind. Our party will not vote for this law. It will be the ruling alliance's problem if they pass it,” he stated. The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said that he is also against this law. “We are liberal, but are healthy and want healthy families. We will not vote for this law,” he stated. The anti-discrimination bill was approved by the executive on February 17 and submitted to the legislative body for adoption.
