A lot of people came together again in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau to protest after President Nicolae Timofti nominated the candidate suggested by the parliamentary coalition for premiership. The participants in the protest staged by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” and the political project “Platform Dignity and Truth” demanded that early legislative elections should be called, IPN reports.

Leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said that after the head of state nominated the coalition’s candidate Pavel Filip for Prime Minister, the people were betrayed again. According to him, the withdrawal of the candidacy of Ion Paduraru created suitable conditions for the President and the ’mafia’.

Platform leader Vasile Nastase stated the early elections are the only solution for overcoming the political and economic crisis, noting they will not allow Pavel Filip to become Prime Minister. “We will rally all the social, political and extraparliamentary forces that realize that Moldova is captive and that Plahotniuc should be stopped at all costs,” he said.

“We will urge all these people, the entire population of Moldova, to gather together the day when the parliamentary majority will plan to vote in Plahotniuc’s servant. We want Parliament to be dissolved and early elections to be announced.”

Platform member Alex Cozer said it is now very important for the people of Moldova to be united. “We must be united, regardless of the geopolitical course and of our political preferences. It is now probably the most important moment after the 1990s for Moldova,” he stated.

The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” and the political project “Platform Dignity and Truth” also organized protests in the central square of Chisinau on January 13, against the nomination of candidate for premiership without integrity, and on January 14, against the repeated designation of Vlad Plahotniuc for Prime Minister.
