A group of people calling themselves Stop the Terror Action Group is condemning the actions of the police during and after the rally held on Tuesday, outside the Interior Ministry building, in homage to a young man shot dead by a policeman last week. Ghenadie Brega, one of the leaders of the newly formed Stop the Terror Group, told today a news conference at Info-Prim Neo that several attendees of the rally have been summoned to appear before the police, while one of the organizers was even forced into a car by men dressed in civilian clothes and driven away. “That young man was fined 160 lei by a judge. His identity papers remained seized until he paid the fine. He wasn't informed of his right to appeal or to file a complaint”, said Brega. Some three hours after the rally, Anatol Matasaru, a member of the same group – and a man famous for his witty displays of protest against the law enforcers – witnessed how the rear window of his car was vandalized. Matasaru claims that he identified among the vandals a person who had taken part in a pepper spray attack against a peaceful rally held outside the General Prosecutor's Office on February 3. Anatol Hristea-Stan, another member of the group, told the same news conference his numerous attempts to report abuses to the prosecution body had been futile. “Where should a man go to complain, if the prosecutors refuse to investigate the cases of abuse by the police? We are totally helpless!”, he said. “We believe that if the police allow themselves to break the law with the tacit approval of the prosecutors, then there's no other name for them than bandits, who can to violate the laws without being punished”, declared Brega. On Saturday, the Stop the Terror Action Group intends to stage another protest meeting to condemn the police's conduct.
