The October 11 protest when a group of faithful people supported by the Communist MPs barred access to the Palace of the Republic will be investigated by the police, announced Head of Parliament Igor Corman. According to him, if the Communist lawmakers are found guilty of violating public order, they may be deprived of parliamentary immunity and penalized, IPN reports.

“We will not allow the Communists to use such uncivilized methods that have nothing in common with the parliamentary agenda and the bills,” said Igor Corman. He added that by such actions the Communists are trying to hamper the European integration process before the Vilnius Summit, where the Association Agreement with the EU is to be initialed.

“The behavior of the Communists, who involved a minority part of the Church in their schemes, is provocative,” said the leader of the Liberal-Democratic faction Valeriu Strelet. He added that the PCRM, since it is in the opposition, has tried by different methods to cause early elections in the hope that they will return to power.

On October 11, dozens of Orthodox Christians headed by priests blocked the doors of the Palace of Republic, protesting against the adoption of a bill that annuls the penalties for the promotion of other relations than the family and household ones. The protesters were supported by Communists, who hindered the police from restoring public order.
