A protest was mounted at the head office of the Party “Action and Solidarity” on June 6 after the party announced it is ready to support the Party of Socialists’ candidate for Parliament Speaker. The protesters formulated accusations of betrayal and of allying with those who sent tanks against the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

The participants in the event noted the PAS’s decision represents violation of the commitments made by the party’s MPs before the parliamentary elections. “The alternative is for the PAS not to set up filters of a poor quality, but to mobilize the voters in an exemplary way and to win a majority of seats of MP if it cannot stage a revolution. It should win a majority of seats by democratic ways and should change the regime. We should go towards Europe, towards civilization. Where do we go back to? Towards Siberia?” asked Vasile Costiuc, the leader of the Party “Democracy at Home”.

The protest involved several veterans of the Nistru war. “What you do is betrayal of the voters. You were voted by the pro-European and unionist force, not by Putin, Rogozin and Kozak. For us, it is an offense when you, those who say you are pro-European, want to form a coalition with those who sent tanks to us and killed our comrades in 1992,” stated Gennady Cosovan, president of the War Veterans Association “Faith to the Motherland”.

Among those who went out before the crowd was the PAS secretary general Igor Grosu. “The protest is what we call “provocation of disorder”. Plahotniuc implements the plan about which we spoke. He mobilizes people from outside his party and will also mobilize athletes,” stated Igor Grosu, noting the Socialists go to the PDM to discuss, but the demonstrators didn’t go to the head office of this party to protest and this is the hypocrisy that betrays.
