The Prosecutor General's Office will look into allegations that senior judges exerted undue influence on lower-ranking colleagues with respect to hearing cases and passing rulings. The PGO says in a press release it will check if the judges who refused to follow their superiors' undue orders faced persecution, undermining the principle of judicial independence and impartiality.

According to the press release, PGO resumed the examination of the case reported by the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM) regarding the alleged illegal actions of the court management of Chisinau municipality, of the Supreme Court of Justice and of the Judicial Inspectorate. The decision was made on Thursday, August 8, when the judge's report referred to in the SCM documents was filed and registered with the PGO. The judge is Mihai Murguleț, from Ciocana Court.

On June 25, the CSM examined a complaint from judge Mihai Murguleț, who notified the SCM members that in 2018 and 2019 he was forced to carry out the orders of certain court system higher-ups in cases he was handling.
