The prosecutors intend to appeal the sentence in the case of the murder of an elderly woman who was the mother of a journalist as too lenient. The crime was committed in an apartment building located on Dimo St in Chisinau. A neighbor of the victim, together with his female partner, entered the elderly woman’s apartment and hit her with a chair, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecution demanded that the 55-year-old and his partner aged 31 should be sentenced to 25 and, respectively, 20 years in jail. But the Rascani office of the Court of Chisinau gave the man 13 years, while his partner a two-year suspended sentence after the acts of the culprits were reclassified according to a milder article.
The prosecutors will insist that the two be given stricter punishments for intentional murder committed with special cruelty.
