The Special Cases Proescutor’s Office has started proceedings in reaction to a press conference held by a political party and an NGO to show support for the “special military operation” waged by Russia in Ukraine.

According to prosecutors, the organizers voiced “biased and invented” claims.

The Office said in a press release that the statements made during the press conference will be examined as potential “propaganda of war” and “activities aimed at deliberately inciting hatred, and national, ethnic, racial or religious discrimination and division”.

“According to the investigation, the criminal activities in question are planned in a centralized way and carried out deliberately with the purpose of warming up the Moldovan population to the armed conflict, and of generating social dissension, among other purposes”, prosecutors say.

Three sets of criminal proceedings have been started. At the same time, prosecutors are examining 19 other complaints related to similar activities.

The press conference in question was hosted by IPN. Soon after, IPN deleted the livestreamed content from its accounts.
