Shor Party lawmaker Marina Tauber has been formally declared a suspect, IPN learned from Prosecutor General’s Office spokesperson Mariana Cherpec. Prosecutors will now ask the Chisinau/Ciocana District Court to authorize her preventive arrest for a period of 30 days.
Tauber has been charged with two offenses: knowingly accepting illegal financing for the Shor Party from an organized criminal group; and falsifying the party’s financial report for the first half of 2022 with the intention of withholding actual incomes and expenses.
On Thursday, the lawmaker was stripped of immunity from prosecution after Acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu requested this in Parliament. Later that day, Tauber was detained for 72 hours.
