The Prosecutor’s Office instituted criminal proceedings over violation of the right to vote and hindering of the activity of the polling place in Corjova village, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office. According to prosecutors, about 300 unidentified persons blocked the access ways to the polling station No5/15 opened inside Mihai Eminescu High School in Corjova on April 5 in the morning. Afterward, they attacked the polling station and took ballot boxes away and damaged them. Throughout the day, the station remained blocked, the Moldovan people’s constitutional right to elect and be elected being infringed. As the prosecutors said, the group of unidentified persons was head by representatives of the Transnistrian unconstitutional authorities. Legal action was taken against this group under article 181 of the Penal Code – hindering of the free exercise of the right to vote and of the activity of the electoral bodies by blocking access to the polling place and vandalizing it. The prosecutors are now conducting a comprehensive and objective investigation into the case so as to identify all the persons involved and hold them accountable.
