Prosecutors’ Office expresses its position on scandal over Chisinau Kindergarten No. 5

SA Bucuria has illegally privatized the Kindergarten No. 5 located in Chisinau’s Rascani district, said the General Prosecutor’s Office, which was notified of the privatization by a group of parents whose children go to this nursery school, Info-Prim Neo reports. The prosecutors established that the kindergarten was illegally included in the privatization documents of SA Bucuria, a communiqué from the Prosecutor’s Office said. The management of SA Bucuria intended to demolish the kindergarten’s building and erect a block of flats instead of it. Alarmed that 300 children will remain without kindergarten, with another 600 children included in the waiting lists, the parents wrote a letter to the head of state and asked that the building is transferred under the administration of the Division of Education, Youth and Sport. As a result, the General Prosecutor’s Office filed an application to the Economic Court of Appeals, demanding that the building located on Bogdan Voievod Street is excluded from the privatization certificate issued to SA Bucuria and that the Chisinau Cadastre Office is obliged to transfer the right of ownership over the building to the City Hall. The kindergarten had the status of departmental institution and belonged to the state-owned company Bucuria. After Bucuria was transformed into joint stock company, the administration introduced the kindergarten’s building into its authorized capital. On June 20 and again on July 3, SA Bucuria requested that the children should vacate the kindergarten.
