Irina Lozovan, a Member of Parliament closely associated with fugitive Ilan Sor, is prohibited from leaving the country, and the court-ordered measure has been forwarded to the Border Police for enforcement. Amid public speculation that the defendant may have left the country, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office assures that her departure from Moldova could not have occurred through official border checkpoints, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, as of March 3, a preventive measure prohibiting Lozovan from leaving the country for 60 days has been in effect. This measure was deemed necessary because the defendant failed to appear at court hearings on February 25 and March 3. While illness was cited as the reason, no medical proof was provided.
MP Irina Lozovan, a member of the "Renastere" political party, and her husband, Pavel Girleanu, a district councilor in Ocnița, are accused of knowingly accepting political party financing from an organized criminal group, as well as complicity in the offense. The case was sent to court in November 2023.
The Chisinau Court, Buiucani branch, has scheduled the ruling for March 31.
