The General Prosecution Office College doubts the professionalism of the customs bodies, claiming violations of duty payment procedures, a press release of the institution reports. The employees of the Customs services repeatedly permit violations in the case of goods with suspect customs papers, fact which weakens the internal market and significantly affects domestic producers, the College maintains. The main types of violations admitted in the duty-payment process are false declaring of goods, incorrectly presenting the code of the goods, of their name, illegal usage of papers etc. As a result of the checkups performed at the customs points, 38 penal proceedings were initiated, of which 28 are cases related to duty-payment dodging. The damage caused in these cases amounts to over MDL 6 mln. Another 10 cases of smuggled goods worth MDL 14 mln were found out and goods to the total sum of MDL 3 mln were sequestered. The General Prosecution Office informed the leadership of the Customs Service about these violations.
