Prosecutors find units retailing alcohol near most of education institutions in Moldova

In most Moldovan localities, and in Chisinau's all districts, they sell alcoholic beverages near schools, prosecutors have found. They blame the local authorities, “which neglect the legal provisions when issuing authorizations to install selling entities,” Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the General Prosecutor's Office. The controls establish there are booths selling alcohol near the student dormitories of the Transport College in Chisinau. According to prosecutors, the college administration has repeatedly notified the local public authorities to cancel the respective authorizations. Yet, the Architecture General Direction is said to have told them, no alcoholic beverages would be sold after the authorization expired. Another example was unveiled in Falesti district, where the schools are surrounded by bars and taverns at a distance less than 50 m from education entities. There are three selling units near the school in Panzareni village, two ones – near the school in Sarata Veche, two selling points near the school in Obreja Veche village. According to the law, it is forbidden to sell alcoholic drinks at a smaller distance than 50 m from education entities. Such offenses are punished by 500 to 800 conventional units (18 lei), as the alcohol is confiscated. The prosecutors have notified the local public authorities to remove the violations and not to admit new ones in the future.
