The General Assembly of Prosecutors elected the new composition of the self-management bodies, for a four-year period. Six members of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, nine members of the Qualification Board and nine members of the Disciplinary Board were selected by a secret, direct and freely expressed vote, IPN reports.
The Supreme Council of Prosecutors is the guarantor of the autonomy, objectivity and impartiality of prosecutors. Its members are: Mircea Rosioru, head of the Law Division of the Prosecutor General’s Office; Ruslan Popov, head of the Prosecution Control and Methodological Assistance Division; Viorel Tureac, prosecutor of Balti municipality; Remus Moroz, prosecutor of Hancesti district; Vasile Stoinov, prosecutor of Comrat district, and Eduard Masnic, prosecutor of Buiucani district of Chisinau.
The Qualification Board is instituted under the Supreme Council of Prosecutors. Its goal is to promote the state policies on the selection of staff for the prosecution service and to assess the qualifications and professional capacities of prosecutors. The Qualification Board consists of prosecutors Viorel Morar, Igor Popa, Valeriu Bodean, Sergiu Gavajuc, Alexandru Rata, Marcel Dimitras, Leonid Turculet, Nicolai Geru, and Valentin Baidaus.
The Disciplinary Board examines the cases of disciplinary punishment of prosecutors. It includes Nicolai Chitoroaga, Victor Comerzan, Alexandru Nichita, Serghei Cebotari, Ion Popa, Vladimir Lupu, Vlad Gutan, Ruslan Caraivan, and Marcel Cimbir.
The terms in office of the current members of the self-management bodies expire on December 30.
