The local man who three months ago set the Vulcănești Prosecutor’s Office on fire was identified and arrested. The Prosecutor General’s Office said this is a resident of Vulcănești town aged 45. The man resorted to such a gesture in order to take revenge for his son who was convicted of a number of crimes, IPN reports, quoting the PGO.
The Head Office of the Prosecutor’s Office of Gagauzia charged the man on two counts: “aggravated hooliganism” and “attempt to destroy or intentional damaging of property”. The man was remanded in custody for 30 days. He pleads not guilty.
The incident happened on the night of September 14, 2020. Unknown persons damaged the camera at the entrance to the Prosecutor’s Office and then set fire to two car tires splashed with inflammable material and damaged the entrance door.
The offense carries a penalty of at most seven years in jail.
