All the bans and restrictions stipulated by the law should be imposed on ex-President Igor Dodon, consider the prosecutors in charge of the case, who asked for the extension of house arrest, IPN reports.

Answering journalists’ questions, prosecutor Petru Yarmalyuk said that on Tuesday the prosecutors presented additional evidence showing that the preventive measure needs to be extended in accordance with the law, which is with all the applicable bans. “The law is equal for everyone and should be applied with regard to everyone, not selectively, but equidistantly, impartially and objectively in each case, as the circumstances of the investigation require,” he stated. The court decided to offer the defense time for familiarizing itself with the evidence presented by prosecutors. Therefore, the sitting was put off until Wednesday.

Petru Yarmalyuk avoided saying what evidence they have, noting it goes to data referring to other persons involved in the criminal case. According to the prosecutor, there is sufficient evidence showing that the house arrest should be extended.

Igor Dodon is accused of passive corruption, acceptance of financing for the party from a criminal organization, treason and unjust enrichment. He considers this is a political case started by order of President Maia Sandu.
