Acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu ordered to verify the legality of the decision to sell a lot near the shopping center UNIC. The information was confirmed for IPN by the spokeswoman for the Prospector General’s Office Mariana Cherpec.
According to the spokeswoman, the acting prosecutor general devoted attention to this case following relevant press reports. There is now no complaint about this case. Dumitru Robu is to decide the prosecutor and the prosecutor’s office that will handle the case.
On February 17, the Chisinau councilors of the Party of Socialists and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) voted in favor of selling a lot of 1.29 ha situated near UNIC store at the price of 2.7 million lei at a time when the market price of this is at least 40 million lei.
The decision was criticized by the administration of PPPDA. In a post on Facebook, the party’s acting president Dinu Plîngău said the municipal councilors in charge of the land sector should be dismissed. The decision wasn’t discussed with the party’s statutory bodies and does not represent the will or position of the whole party. The National Political Council will be immediately convoked to withdraw the political support for the given municipal councilors representing PPPDA. The situation is to be analyzed by the party’s Ethics and Discipline Commission.
Members of the Party of Action and Solidarity also said that the given decision is abusive and illegal. In a press release, PAS noted that the decision taken at the February 17 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council shows that the Socialist and PPPDA councilors are involved in dirty games and cause damage to the municipal budget.
