The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) will investigate the attempts to corrupt MPs and if the information is confirmed and those to blame are identified, they can be held accountable, Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Corneliu Gurin said that they are now verifying the information and no criminal case was started in this respect. As to the referendums held in Gagauzia, the PGO took legal action on arbitrariness, but the case is rather complicated from legislative and normative viewpoints.

The prosecutor general provided details about the arrest of the principal of the Moldovan-administered Tiraspol lyceum. He said that it is very hard to carry out investigations in this case as the prosecutors do not have access to the territory controlled by the separatist authorities. But there are other leverages such as constraint measures and putting on the wanted list. Consequently, those to blame will not be able to leave the Transnistrian region.

Corneliu Gurin also said that of the load cases of last year there are now examined the case concerning the accidental shooting during hunting in the Domneasca Forest and the cases involving ex-Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta and former head of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Vicol. No legal proceedings were instituted against Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi, while the investigation into the case of ex-Minister of Culture Boris Focsa is delayed because two institutions carried out assessments and provided totally different results.
