From January 1, 2015, the property tax for private individuals in the Transnistrian region will be lower. For a square meter of noncommercial areas, the taxpayers will pay 0.05 of the calculation base of the minimum official salary, as against 0.5 now, IPN reports.

In order to benefit from the tax reduction, the taxpayers must contact the local administration and submit a statement saying that they didn’t use the property for commercial purposes. A special commission will analyze the statement.

Specialists from the region say there are situations when the taxpayers pay the same taxes for real estate that is not used for commercial purposes and for real estate used in business, trade, production or service provision. The made changes are aimed at removing this inequity.
