Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti is hiding his property, said the online platform on the integrity of persons with public posts “Moldova Curata” (“Clean Moldova”). According to the author of the article, the National Integrity Commission (CNI) made public only the President’s personal interests statement, IPN reports.

In the statement, the head of state declares incomes of over 21,000 lei earned at the Supreme Council of Magistrates in 2012, before he was elected as head of state. His salary as President totaled over 115,000 lei last year.

On the CNI’s website, it is published the property statement and the personal interests statement of First Lady Margareta Timofti, who was named as senior consultant at the Parliament’s secretariat on April 1, 2012. In the two documents, Margareta Timofti indicates only her incomes of over 102,000 lei from salary. “The First Lady does not declare the property owned by the presidential family either. But, at the end of her property statement, she wrote that the common property was declared by her husband Nicolae Timofti. However, their property is available neither on the CNI’s website, nor on the webpage of the President of Moldova, says “Moldova Curata”.

Last year, when Nicolae Timofti was a candidate for the presidency, the parliamentary commission for the election of the head of state published his property statement. Then, Timofti declared a plot of land of 0.0569 hectares in Nimoreni, Ialoveni that was bought in 1996. The Timofti family owned an apartment of 85.3 square meters to the value of over half a million lei in the municipality of Chisinau. In 2011, Nicolae Timofti earned over 136,000 lei as salary for working as president of the Supreme Council of Magistrates and 102,000 lei as pension.
