About 60 national and foreign trademarks took part in the 13th contest “Trademark of the Year” staged by the Chamber of Trade and Industry, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and other partners of the Chamber. The most successful trademarks were awarded in the Moldovan Business Gala in the evening of June 7, 2016, IPN reports.

The Chamber’s acting head Tudor Olaru said the objective of the contest is to identify important projects to create and promote national trademarks on the domestic and foreign markets, to increase their competitiveness and to contribute to enhanced professionalism of marketing teams.

The winning trademarks were chosen by an expert jury and in accordance with consumer preferences identified within a poll. Among the awardees are the trademarks of the companies Sudzucher Moldova, Nufarul Alb, Linella, grain complex Aur Alb, Rogob SRL, the Ungheni Free Economic Zone, Ritlabs SRL and Moldovahidromas. The companies received medals “Golden Mercury”.

Within the Moldovan Business Gala, there were announced the winners of the contest “Award for accomplishments in the field of quality”. The winning companies implement quality management standards and penetrate new markets with high-quality products.

There were also awarded the local public authorities that took part in the national exhibition “Made in Moldova” with own products and services.

“Given that this August we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the declaration of Moldova’s independence, we invited to the Moldovan Business Gala persons who asserted themselves in the period, interweaving their biography with the biography of the country and contributing to the creation of the legislative framework for entrepreneurial activity and to an enhanced business climate,” said Tudor Olaru.

Among the invitees was Moldova’s first President Mircea Snegur. “I’m glad to be near you. While I held office as President, there were adopted the first laws on entrepreneurship, joint stock companies, state support for small businesses and bankruptcy and other legal acts needed for developing the business sector. Many of those attending now profited from this framework and started profitable businesses. Later this legal framework was improved and new laws were thought up. I also signed a decree to found the Chamber of Trade and Industry. I’m proud of the trademarks of products and services launched on the market and of the fact that the businesspeople in Moldova know how to overcome the difficulties and to develop successfully,” he stated.

AGEPI director Octavian Apostol said the trademark is what remains after a company stops work. The number of launched trademarks increases annually, while the known brand names confirm their popularity with consumers.

The awarded trademarks will be included in a catalog of laureates that will be presented at exhibitions and business forums that will involve Moldova and will be also distributed to Moldova’s embassies abroad.
