“The promotion of offenders and the black PR in the parliamentary hearings are unacceptable,” considers First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, vice president of the Democratic Party. He made public his position in a statement issued on September 13, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It became evident in Parliament today that Sergiu Mocanu and the brothers Topa fulfill a political order by carrying out a dirty campaign against me. Only this way can I explain the fact that the PLDM member Veaceslav Ionita illegally included ‘a memoir of the Topa brothers’ – a sample of dirty PR typical of the boulevard press – in the agenda of the hearings centering on the situation in the financial-banking sector. I consider it is good to see who encourages dirty political attacks, but I regret that a number of Moldova’s partners were treated with disrespect, being indicated as ‘addressees’ of this fiction. I will write them a letter with relevant explanations and am ready to have a meeting with diplomats so as to state my position on this dangerous precedent set,” it is said in the statement. “It is easy to use the Topa brothers as weapons against the political opponents because they can be blackmailed, are vulnerable and seek political protection. There is information about the involvement of these persons in illegal trafficking in guns together with the company “Aerocom”, including in the well-known case “Victor But” that is investigated by the CIA, kidnapping of persons and threatening with death, considerable financial frauds, etc. As to the content of the ‘memoir’, it repeats the old insinuations of Mocanu because I sued him and won the case in the first court on August 16. But the denigrators did not provide evidence and this shows that they play the role of instruments in a political game and make no effort to ensure the stability of the banking system in Moldova,” said Vlad Plahotniuc.
