Promo-LEX Association calls on the Prosecutor General’s Office to react promptly in every case of domestic violence. In a communiqué, the NGO says that domestic violence represents an offense stipulated in the Criminal Code, but the law enforcement bodies prefer to hold the aggressors administratively accountable, not criminally, IPN reports.
Among the problems highlighted by Promo-LEX in different studies and reports is the refusal of the prosecutors to take legal action. They argue that similar provisions are contained in the Code of Administrative Offenses and they implement the milder legislation.
According to Promo-LEX, the Prosecutor General’s Office becomes insufficiently involved in cases of domestic violence. The association calls upon the prosecution service to fulfill its rights and obligations laid down by the law by intervening in solving all the cases of domestic violence that were classed inappropriately.
