The Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT) is monitoring the fulfillment of the promises made by politicians for the November 30 parliamentary elections and during the election campaign that preceded the elections of 2010. The promises are presented on the platform promis.md, which is connected with the webpage alegeri.md, while a special mechanism is measuring the time that remained until the promises should be fulfilled and shows the visitors of the platform if the politicians kept their promises or not.

In a news conference at IPN, ADEPT executive director Igor Botan said the politicians must understand that their promises are not forgotten and the people who voted for them have their eye on them and can penalize them in the next elections for making empty promises.

“I call on the people to analyze the promises made by the politicians and to demand that they account for the non-fulfillment of these promises. The platform is useful also for the mass media, which can put questions to these politicians,” stated the executive director of ADEPT.

The website has a mechanism that determines the rating of politicians and parties based on their activities. Igor Botan said that ADEPT does not exceed its powers, but only monitors the situation and mathematically calculates the rating of politicians and parties.

ADEPT will not print the information from promis.md and alegeri.md. But, if someone wants to implement such a project, they will furnish the necessary data. The Association will soon launch a webpage with the income statements of politicians, functionaries and judges.

The platform alegeri.md, with which promis.md is connected, was created with the assistance of the U.S. Department of State through the agency of the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau.
