A project to modernize the governmental services was launched by the Government of Moldova in partnership with the World Bank Group on January 18. The project envisions the creation of at least 80 Universal Service Provision Centers all over the country, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the citizens will benefit from services by only presenting the identity card. Owing to the electronic exchange of data between institutions, the length of services will be significantly reduced.
“The citizens must have the necessary comfort when they apply for public services. Electronic governance means modification of the method of government from vertical to horizontal. Owing to the digitization, the decisions are taken much faster,” Pavel Filip stated in the project launch event.
World Bank Country Manager for Moldova Anna Akhalkatsi said the project forms part of the Government’s digital transformation agenda. “We are very proud that the project will target particularly the citizens who have limited access to digital services,” stated Anna Akhalkatsi.
The project will be implemented in 2018-2022 and has a budget of US$ 22.4 million.
